🛠️ General Troubleshooting Steps

Restart/Reload the Page: If a broadcast sync issue occurs, refreshing the live stream page (e.g. on MLB.tv, NBA.com, or ESPN) and clicking the extension icon again solves 95% of playback or interface issues.
Enable Microphone Access: If you are joining a watch room with voice-sync features, make sure your browser has mic permissions granted for https://www.sidecastsports.net. You can click the lock icon in the browser URL bar to check.
Check Extension Permissions: Ensure the Sidecast Sports Network Companion is activated and has permissions on your active browser tab.

1. Which streaming platforms are supported?

The companion currently supports active watching on major sports networks and portals including MLB.com, NBA.com, and ESPN.com broadcasts. We are constantly adding support for more leagues and portals!

2. Why does the live sync speed micro-adjust?

Instead of doing sudden, jarring video jumps (which can crash web-based players), our extension utilizes highly precise, pitch-preserved playback rate micro-adjustments (between 0.97x and 1.03x) to smoothly align your stream with your group's host absolute UTC playhead. This ensures a seamless watch-along companion experience.

3. Is my privacy protected?

Yes. Sidecast does not capture, store, or stream your raw audio/video feeds or private browsing history. All coordination logic is executed locally on your client and peer-to-peer over encrypted connections. You can read our full Privacy Policy for complete details.
